The 15 cm schwere Feldhaubitze 13 is also known as the 15 cm sFH 13. It is a heavy howitzer that was deployed by Germany and its ally, the Ottoman Empire (Turkey), during the First World War. Belgium and the Netherlands also made use of the weapon after the surviving units were transferred to them following the war. During the Second World War, when Germany invaded and conquered Belgium and the Netherlands in 1940, the howitzers were put back into service. They were designated the 15 cm sFH 409(b) and the 15 cm sFH 406(h). It was a design that was very simple to manufacture; more than 3,400 units were produced between 1914 and 1918.
